Exploring Differences in the Workplace   << back`

Understanding how to manage and maximize a diverse workforce is critical to business success. By helping employees successfully address cultural, gender and style issues, you can transform your work environment into a more effective place for collaboration and teamwork.

This popular workshop involves managers, supervisors and employees in situational discussions, assessments and role plays aimed at defining the best ways to work with and for each other.

The workshop explores these questions:

  • What is the business case for Diversity Training?
  • Does senior management regard Diversity Training as a business initiative?
  • What does your customer look like? How could they benefit from your company undergoing this training?
  • Is your company willing to look at its hiring, promotion, leadership development and business practices? Is there a formal inclusive mentoring program in place?
  • Is your management team willing to “Walk the Talk” so Diversity Training is not a one-time endeavor?
  • Is your management team willing to get involved in the training so employees see it as “theirs” and not some outside consultant’s agenda?
  • What are you trying to fix? What assessment tools are in place to discover what needs fixing?
    • Are you willing to share the results and develop an action plan?  What is the follow-up to the assessment?
    • How are action items going to be followed up?  Are you willing to create a Diversity Steering Committee (inclusive)?
    • Are you prepared to make internal changes to show employees that this will become part of our culture and part of the way you hold people accountable, e.g. performance evaluations, newsletters, recognition programs?
    • Can you move from an organization that is “aware” to one that is “capable” of working successfully as part of a diverse team?
    • What should you be prepared for when introducing diversity initiatives?
