“The Stuff of Dreams: Behind the Scenes of an American Community Theater” by Leah Hager Cohen
The Stuff of Dreams Book In 2001 Celia Couture was the Director of M. Butterfly for the Arlington Friends of Drama. AFD had just celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary and was facing a number of challenges to help adapt the theater to changing times. Celia found herself at the center of this challenge – directing a controversial and expansive production while helping this community theater reach new heights.

Leah Hager Cohen chronicled this extraordinary year. Following Celia as she embarked on what became a highlight of her theater career. This book tells the story of Celia’s “other” life – that of an award winning director. Celia says, “Directing brings together all the leadership skills, project management skills, and creativity that I have learned and exhibited throughout my corporate career. It pushes me further, allowing me to bring more ideas and approaches to each client as I help them develop and grow their business.”
