CC CONSULTING IS RETAINED BY COLGATE UNIVERSITY SETTING A NEW STANDARD FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Tewksbury, MA, May 18, 2004—CC Consulting, a management consulting organization focused on leadership development, announced today that it has been retained by Colgate University in Huntington, New York to work together in the design of a new type of assessment process for University staff. The goal for the working agreement is to demonstrate how a 360-degree evaluation tool can be utilized with university personnel.

Rebecca Chopp, University President believes “All professionals need to continually develop their capacities and skills. Learning new ways of doing things and becoming a stronger leader is important to the meaningfulness of a position and certainly should be the mantra of leaders in an educational institution.” CC Consulting completed a pilot program in April and received significant positive feedback. As a result the 360 degree evaluation is being rolled out to senior staff members. Plans are also underway to determine how best to roll out a performance management system for professional staff at the university.

Celia Couture, CC Consulting President explained, “360 degree feedback is one of most effective techniques to gather feedback for leadership development.” A 360 degree process gathers feedback from peers, direct reports, and managers. It provides a well-rounded view of how an individual is perceived and is performing. The confidential nature of this process allows respondents to evaluate subjects objectively without fear that their name will be associated with any quantitative or qualitative data provided.

“Colgate University and President Chopp are to be commended for the progressive response they have taken to improve accountability and development. They are truly ahead of the curve and we are thrilled that they have chosen our firm to work with them in this effort,” stated Couture. “We know that the work we do will have far reaching, positive impact on Colgate University’s ability to deal more effectively with skill building and they will continue to be viewed at leaders within academic circles.”
